Bali Tours – Java’s Ijen Volcano Hiking – Borneo Longhouse and Jungle River Cruise Trip

The trip journeys begin in Ubud Bali, visit Ubud and Lovina for 4 days. first night on Ubud rice field view and last night on Lovina beach then drive to East java by passing hilly road to Gili manuk ferry harbor. Arrived at Ijen accommodation in the late afternoon.

Explore Ijen sulphur mining by hiking up to the top. you will amaze how the sulphur miner working hard collecting each pieces of sulphurs. Then drive to Surabaya to stay at historical hotel in Surabaya, Majapahit Hotel (formerly Yamato Hotel). Spoil yourself on wow room...the next morning after breakfast; fly direct to Centre of Kalimantan (formerly Borneo) from Juanda Surabaya airport to Palangka raya airport.

Itinerary:
DAY 1: BALI – UBUD
Arrival at Ngurah Rai Bali International airport. Your guide will escort you directly to your hotel. After check in, rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 2: UBUD – AFTERNOON FREE AT LEISURE
After breakfast at the hotel, go to Bayad Village and join an Eco Walk program with a local Balinese to explore a wealth of healing plants and spices. Upon arrival, have a coffee/tea/refreshment and a short introduction to the venture. Then take a light hike through the spice and herbal garden, learning about the plants used for first aid emergencies up to the treatment of chronic illnesses. We continue our walk down to the cave and return through an underground labyrinth to our finish point at Petanu Restaurant where your car will await. Lunch at the organic kitchen. Afternoon is free to explore Ubud on your own.

DAY 3: UBUD – LOVINA
Breakfast at the hotel and later drive along the famous Jatiluwih Rice Terrace, which was recently nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a man-made wonder of boundless rice terraces flanked by the mountains. The small mountain road will end up at the resort of Bedugul. The next stop will be Lake Bratan, a crater which lies serenely in the midst of an elongated valley, farmed for centuries. The small temple of Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, honouring Dewi Danau, Goddess of the Lake, sits on the lake promontory. Stroll along Candi Kuning market, where local fruits, vegetables and flowers are sold. Lunch
at a restaurant in the mountains and see a breathtaking view of the northern coast. Trek to the waterfall in the forest of Munduk, to see clove, cocoa and coffee plantations. Arrive late afternoon at the hotel in Lovina. Dinner at own arrangement

DAY 4: LOVINA
Breakfast at the hotel. Early morning leave for dolphin spotting in the Java Sea in a motorized outrigger. The waters are well known for playful dolphins and the chances are good. (Swimming with the dolphins is not possible).

DAY 5: BANYUWANGI (JAVA) - MOUNT IJEN
After breakfast, drive to the small fishing harbour of Gilimanuk on the western tip of Bali. We board the local ferry to cross the strait of Bali. From the harbour of Ketapang we drive along the slopes of Mt. Ijen to the mountain resort.

DAY 6: MOUNT IJEN TREKKING
After an early wake-up call and breakfast, a four wheel drive vehicle carries you through the rural villages, coffee and clove plantations and then into one of Java’s last rainforests. Humidity, wildlife, giant ferns and big trees cover the slope of the mountain. From the Park Ranger’s post, start the 90 minute hike to Ijen Crater. A stunning view is unveiled at 2883 meters altitude. The lake’s eerie colour and the smoke wafting from bright yellow sulphur deposits create a landscape desolate, barren and vibrantly alive. Watch miners descend into the crater and re-emerge carrying up to 80 kilos of ore in bamboo baskets along the treacherous path. Afterward walk back down the mountain. Return to hotel for a rest or a plunge in the pool.

DAY 7:  SURABAYA
Breakfast at the hotel Morning is free at leisure. In the afternoon transfer from Ijen to Surabaya for approximately 7 hours, arrive at Surabaya for overnight.

DAY 8: PALANGKARAYA
Breakfast at the hotel Early morning, transfer to the Airport for departure to Palangkaraya Central Kalimantan. Directly from the airport, Enjoy an evening of traditional dance

Day 9: VILLAGE TOUR
After breakfast, stroll around the village to see the magnificent ‘sandungs’ or bone houses, outstandingly carved and painted, and learn about the Dayak death rituals. Spend some time with the local people in their ‘Ladangs’ or rubber orchards, seeing how the rubber is harvested and transported. Have a short jungle walk.

Day 10: LONGHOUSE
Morning departure to Palangkaraya by car. Check in to hotel for a swim.

Day 11: PALANGKARAYA
Transfer from your hotel to the Rahai’i Pangun in Palangkaraya harbor to start your journey. Cruise past the stilted and floating houses of the provincial capital and continue upriver along the jungle lined river, passing villages and orangutan islands. In the early evening, take a canoe through the shimmering black water lakes. Keep an eye out for proboscis monkeys, hornbills, red langurs and Brahmini kites. Return to the Rahai’i Pangun for dinner and a quiet dinner in the midst of the jungle.

Day 12: MARANG
The Rahai’i Pangun moves up the Rungan River, passing the orangutan release island of Pulau Kaja, to Kanarakan village. Walk through the village with a local host to see how people live and work in these isolated communities. Canoe ride in lakes and return to overnight near the village.

Day 13: TANGKILING
The boat makes its way down stream, again passing the orangutan island and making its way to Palas Island.

Optional tour
Transfer by canoe to the BOS Orangutan Foundation’s Education Centre in Nyaru Menteng. Accompanied by experienced technicians, observe baby orangutans behind glass in the socialization cages and watch a film of BOS projects in Central Kalimantan. Cost : US$ 25 per person donation to the BOS Orangutan Rehabilitation Project Transfer by canoe to Tangkiling Hill to see the village ‘patahu’ at the sacred Batu Banama rock, and then to climb the hill for a view of the vast, flat flood plains and catch the sunset. Return to the boat for dinner and quiet mooring on the river.

Day 14: AIRPORT
Enjoy your final breakfast on board. Depending on flight departure times, transfer from the boat to the airport, stopping by at the handicraft market (if time permits). Tour ends.
